In October 2018 the Data Access Portal (DAP) was awarded CoreTrustSeal certification. The aim of the CoreTrustSeal was to develop a catalogue of core characteristics for trustworthy data repositories. The CoreTrustSeal was launched in 2018 as an international certification organisation. It was developed from a cooperative effort between the Data Seal of Approval and International Council for Science World Data System under the Research Data Alliance.

The international certification of the DAP as a trusted data repository is an assurance the repository has policies and processes to ensure the data assets in the DAP will be available over the long term.

Certification of the DAP involved a self-assessment that was externally peer reviewed. The application was developed in consultation with a range of IMT staff from DAP development, data infrastructure and operational support. As a requirement for transparency, CSIRO's application has been published on the CoreTrustSeal website. The seal's logo will be displayed in the footer of the new DAP user interface, due for release in December 2018.
