The Research Data Planner (RDP) is a tool for gathering requirements, and documenting decisions on how research data is managed throughout a project. The RDP was developed with researchers and partners including Ethics and Privacy, to ensure key data management questions are addressed in one place. It was built in CSIRO to integrate with related systems such as O2D and Scientific Computing's storage options. The RDP includes up-to-date contextual help about CSIRO's policies and guidelines, and is structured into the following sections:

We recommend planning at the beginning of a project to ensure appropriate permissions are obtained, infrastructure requirements are met, and risks are minimised.

The RDP is a 'living document', designed to evolve with a project and its team.

The Research Data Planner is available at http://rdp.csiro.au/. Watch the RDP Data Clinic webinar to get started.
